Our Craftsman House

We bought our 1917 Craftsman home on the east bench in Ogden in July of 1985. The house was in need of a lot of elbow grease to remove years of wallpaper and paint on the woodwork. Over the years, we have completed small projects as our schedule and pocketbook have allowed. Three years ago, we started a massive restoration project to renovate our old house back to its original grandeur which included the living room, dining room, entry room, parlor, and landscaping the property. We removed old acoustic ceiling tiles, repaired plaster walls, and painted. Countless layers of paint were removed from the Douglas fir woodwork and doors which were then stained to the original shade. The maple floors were sanded and refinished. After a bobcat and stone masons completed their magic, the landscaping came together. We still have two major projects (the kitchen and bathroom) to undertake, but that will have to wait for us to recuperate from this overhaul.

Hey there Kathy!

Great Blog (I've never visited one before so this is a first for me too)!

Although I made a "solo" visit for Ben & Felicia's anniversary, I think the boys were 9 & 10 (6 years ago)when we last visited your place and I remember you working on the house then... it's BEAUTIFUL!

God Bless!!
